Does the Labour Theory of Value really belong here? I will concede it's largely discredited, but I can't help but feel intuitively that saying a Cadillac costs more than a marble because of the more intensive labour required to create the former than the latter is different from saying you didn't get the girl because you didn't try hard enough.
First entry in 'Real Life' references certain essay by David Wong (I assume one of his articles on 'Cracked' website) but I can't find the original reference. Author should point to it, add it again (in case I didn't find it) or remove it altogether.
Also, the third entry in 'Real Life' (about Heinlein) doubles the 'Starship Troopers' example. In my opinion, the former should be deleted as redundant.
Hide / Show RepliesIndeed, if an essay is mentioned than there should be someway to read it.
About the third one, I think the "latter" is the redundant one. The former is about what happens in the story itself and the latter is simply an outside illustration.
This should probably be renamed from "Hard Work Fallacy"; it doesn't really explain the trope at all.
