Actually, how wide does this trope cast? I noticed two wicks of this trope to one of my watchlist works (Detective Conan); the last pothole of which is linked to this trope—but are they really examples?

  • (Originally an entry in Barefoot Suicide) The Phantom of Baker Street movie has Hiroki Sawada remove his shoes and stand at the ledge of the balcony (living in a company's skyscraper) before cutting away to a scene minutes later when his superiors, who have been trying to get into his room, find his shoes...
  • (Originally an entry in Starts with a Suicide) More than one case in the series begins with someone commiting suicide, and the reader/watcher just knows that said death was caused when someone ruined that person's life. And obviously, whoever is to blame will become the Asshole Victim. A good example is the death of Sakurako in a filler episode: she climbs to a tower from her college, stares sadly at the skies, closes her eyes and throws herself off...
