• The pilot episode of a short-lived series, so short lived that this troper cannot remember its name, concerned a dorm room haunted by the frightening spectre of a previous inhabitant who had drowned in her bath. Campus rumor says she was murdered by her boyfriend and is looking for revenge. In fact she is desperate to communicate to said boyfriend, who has become a creepy recluse out of grief and guilt, that her death was just a stupid accident: she took a strong sedative then fell asleep in the tub, it had nothing to do with the fight they had on their last date.

does anyone think there should be a third option, where there specific goal is them not leaving? Such as protecting their old house like in monster house, or keeping people out of houses to keep something secret. Maybe even attaching themself to someone to 'protect' and watch over them, in their own twisted way. Some theories of the Bell Witch is she manifested from the daughters hate of the father and the sociaty she lived in and left when the she posioned the father.

Or just one that has them content with staying on earth as a ghost and go about like they never died.
