Does the Cluster from Steven Universe count? Since it (I'm sorry, "she") resides in the Earth's core, and does have an active role in a few episodes.
Hide / Show Replies"Loci" is the plural of "locus", is it not? Are we referring to the singular or in plural?
Hide / Show RepliesA bunch of entries belong in Sapient Ship instead. Maybe the houses with AI housekeepers could go there too.
Hide / Show RepliesDoes this trope apply to Metroplex? Because he's the robot mode of Autobot City
If the ship's the size and shape of a moon, and is sentient, it counts.
Edited by MrStranger616Would "I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream" count?
Hide / Show RepliesIs he a sentient location? If not, then no. I feel like you don't understand what a genius loci is. Besides, we already have an And I Must Scream page.
What about the Gaia Hypothesis? The theory that the Earth itself is a huge superorganism.
What would be the most recognized pronounciation for the trope name? Jeen-yus low-key? Jen-us lowsee? Get me a latin dik-shun-air-ee
Hide / Show RepliesI say it Jean-us Low-kai (like "kite" but without the "te" sound). Google translate does it Jean-us Low-sigh (without the -gh drop at the end).
Edited by isoycrazyWe should include that island girl from Adventure Time. Also, Squodward's house is a genius loci, it was peering over Patrick's shoulder in the episode "Secret Box"
"Sentient worms"? Why are you speciesist baatards always trying to put animals down? All animals are sentient! How many times do I have to say it?
Does a non-location character gradually turning a location into a not-physically-connected extension of their own body count? I.E. in [Soul Eater] Lord Death bound his soul and body to the location that became Death City, and it's implied that as a result Death City is essentially an extension of his body within his soul.
Weiserthanyou! Now on Steam! And everywhere else! I got redistributed across space time, help me please. Can someone confirm the correctness of the page title? It seems like it should be "Genius locus", although I don't actually know Latin so I'm not sure.
Edited by 98.234.100.202 Hide / Show RepliesMy mistake, I guess this is the genitive form so "loci" is correct. However, this is a bit confusing since the same phrase in English would mean "places where geniuses congregate" or "places which are unusually intelligent" or something.
Curious that the "Island" from Lost isn't here. Even though by the last season we know it's mostly Jacob & Mi B doing everything, through most of the show there's a lot of reference to "the island won't let you leave" etc
Hide / Show RepliesYeah, but even though Jacob is "doing" stuff, there are quite a few signs that the island in fact is a genius loci. Spoilers: For instance, Jacob "steps down" and "recruits" Jack as the new "super" of the island, and this might hint that the island needs these people (however chosen or destined) only to channel its raw power. I would therefore agree with you that the Lost Island needs to be added.
When it comes to "Mr. Shadow", it might seem like he is a place, since he (it?) is a planet. On the other hand, he is more of a "normal" space monster, since it is impossible to live on this planet. So he doesn't really have the role of somewhere that visitors / inhabitants regard as a place.
" -Why dost thou laugh? It fits not with this hour. - Why, I have not a single tear to shed." Titus Andronicus, W.S.Should we add a posthuman example to real life? It is entirely possible that with brain uploading one could become a planet or moon or city. I think it should but does anyone else agree?
Does "Unity" from rick and morty count as this?
