Just removed the following:
- Smart People Play Chess: Subversion in a way. Musicians would, you think, be good with reading the stuff, with all the notes and staffs and clefs and so on. According to The Other Wiki, no-one mentioned this bit to dear Mr Collins..
- This Troper isn't sure what that means, because Phil Collins had music lessons as a child and can read music, and Peter Gabriel, Mike Rutherford, and Tony Banks all took music lessons at Charterhouse School.
To my mind this is bollocks in two different ways:
1) Pop musicians (to use the term in its broadest sense, to cover all popular styles, not just "pop" itself) generally can't read manuscript, unless classically trained (Rick Wakeman for instance).
2) As the reply says, the founder members of Genesis are among the few exceptions.
