The free part of the game hasn't shrunk in any way, but Transcendence now has paid first-party DLC. Should we start looking to add it to one of the other video game payment-model pages?

Should we make a separate page for RPG Maker games, or at the very least a separate folder?

Are there enough of them to make it worthwhile? (Adventure Game Studio games will probably get their own at some point, too, if we decide to go that route.)

Maybe not now, but there might be eventually. Right now I can think of Alter AILA, Master Of The Wind, The Way, Last Scenario, and Exit Fate off the top of my head. I mean, we have separate categories for commercial RPGs too, don't we? I think a separate folder at the very least might be a good idea.

There are dozens—perhaps hundreds—of commercial RP Gs. The current count of RPG Maker games on TV Tropes seems to be at less than ten. If the wiki software supports sub-folders (which I'm not sure about), a sub-folder might be a good idea. But creating a full folder, much less splitting the page, for that few examples doesn't seem worthwhile to me.

(But I have no authority to say yes or no. If it bothers you that much, feel free to make the change—if people don't like it, they'll just change it back.)

Hmm... well, I made the folder for AGS, but I'm not so sure this is the right route to take.

While some people might have problems with particular libraries or engines — which would make it nice to know what any given game uses — I think most people just want to know which operating system a particular game will run on.

Libraries and engines might be better off listed in brackets next to the game — e.g. "Battle for Wesnoth (C++, SDL)", "Vacant Sky (RPG Maker)", "Iji (Game Maker)", or "Chzo Mythos (Adventure Game Studio)".

IMHO it's enough to give them a tree.

As to libraries... (looking at several pages of configure script output) i'm not sure listing them all is a good idea... ;) Unless compatibility is concerned.

Hm. Perhaps we can reverse the normal layout: group folders by genre, put the engine in parentheses? I think that would work pretty well, though of course we'd need to find a way to add compatability in... (if only the markup allowed sub-folders...)

Edit: Okay, whew. Reorganized the multi-platform folder with the new filing system. I'll probably do the Windows-only folder later today. Criticisms/suggestions? Should I Wiki Word the genre titles or not?

Edit 2: Thanks for the re-reorganization, Diask! It definitely looks much more elegant now. The only problem is with sub-genre listings... Is it possible to indent or increase the size of AC text? Bold, maybe?

I just launched Megaman A Day In The Limelight when I saw that someone had only partially launched it from YKTTW. I don't know the game at all, so I don't know where it should go, but according to the troper who described it it's a freeware game. Please place where appropriate. Thank you.

How about freeware version/Fan Remake/Fan Sequel of non-free games (FreeCiv, FreeCol and so on)?

Should this article have special folders for these, or Fan Remake and Fan Sequel already counts as subsets? Then how about not-quite-Fan Remake with the same gameplay (Hedgewars, Micropolis, Pingus)?

Really, just about the only requirements for this list are that it is legally free to download and that it already has a page on TV Tropes.

Personally, for the sake of convenience, I'd like to see a little parenthetical note about what type / genre of game each one on the list is (though I'm far too lazy to check every game myself); you could easily put its status as a Fan Remake / Fan Sequel there.

I second the genre listing idea. Freeware Games can be a broad category and a mixed bag; it can be difficult to sift through all the games here if you only want, say, platformers.

Decided to go ahead and tag the games I already know of / have played. If anyone wants to do the rest (or at least the ones they know of), feel free.

Does Avarice deserve a page? It's an action RPG made in RPG Maker VX that was nominated as a featured game on RMN.
