I took it out. For reference, though, here it is:
- Most doctors in general: something about first-hand knowledge about how the human body works and by extension how to kill it and the right pair of glasses...
- Turn your head and cough! * SNAP*
The trope isn't about evilness as such, it's more about "you can tell this guy is cold-hearted because of his glasses". (Most doctors aren't that either, of course.)
Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered.Okay, so, I don't think this trope is defined very clearly. The laconic says that it only applies to Complete Monsters, but neither the article itself, the examples, or, as seen above, the interpretation by at least some members reflects this.
Is this trope specifically about Complete Monsters wearing glasses, more generally about bad people wearing glasses (which seems like People Sit On Chairs, IMHO), or about the use of glasses as a visual shorthand to "This person is evil" (which seems like it might be very subjective in application and treads very far into the territory of Scary Shiny Glasses and Sinister Shades)?
~EDIT~ Meant to post this as its own topic; oops.
Edited by Pig_catapultPeople Sit On Chairs is the best understanding of this trope I can get as well.
Uh, no. It's about glasses indicating evilness. Not even close to PSOC.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe spoilers under that picture really aren't hiding very much. Sure, you find out that he's a bad guy in the first case in which he appears but still...

I hope you get tiny bits of eggshell in all your omelettes for the rest of your life!
Is the entry in the Real Life section, re: doctors, appropriate? I'd hazard a guess that "most doctors" are probably a far cry from evil, which I'd think would preclude them from qualifying for the trope, but I'm not sure.
