There's a Timon & Pumbaa episode ("Kenya Be My Friend?") about Timon and Pumbaa's "Bestest Best Friend Day". It's treated similarly to a wedding anniversary: Pumbaa gets Timon a nice gift and is seriously hurt when he realizes Timon forgot it. The ensuing argument even ends their friendship (temporarily). Does this count as parodying the trope, or is it just a variation?
