Is the Pretty Little Liars example from the books or the TV show? cause it has the literature namespace but is in the Live Action Television folder (there are pages for both)
Outing was also done to closeted celebrities in the 70s and 80s in order to show that LGBT people were not just able to be successful but able be role models to both LGBT people and heterosexual people together. Without the forced outings of celebrities, it is doubtful that LGBT causes would have achieved mainstream status and be accepted in society at large.
