Flat-Earth Atheist is disbelief when incontrovertible evidence for something exists. Agent Scully is a character that insists on mundane explanations, no matter what (but they can be right at times). Scully Syndrome is where they prefer to have a highly convoluted mundane explanation than a paranormal one, no matter how much simpler that is. So there is overlap, though they're not entirely the same.

As far as The Left Behind series goes, it's depicting exactly what the Bible predicts on this issue. I disagree with Doctrinally on plenty of things though.
