  • In Knights Of The Old Republic, the Rakatan computer hologram poses a series of questions to the player, with the intention of determining whether they are Darth Revan and allowed to access the Star Map. One of the questions involves discovering that an enemy plans to attack and destroy a city of yours within a certain amount of time, with potential options being to openly protect the city. The only correct answer (which earns you dark side points is to let the attack take place and let the city be destroyed, in order to make the enemy believe you were not expecting the attack, then counter-attack with your consolidated forces. Any other answer causes the Star Map to deploy attack droids, but it still allows you access after you destroy them.
Er. How is it an example?

Why do people keep making this a Self-Demonstrating Article? Whoever does this has a VERY bad sense of humor.

I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.

Dragon Age: Origins has a sequence that fits here directly. The players party is intercepted in their escape from a palace in Denerim, while attempting to free a prisoner. The opposing force is intended to be undefeatable, but the fight occurs as usual regardless. Once the player loses, it leads to a prison escape sequence. The fight is actually winnable, though one must use either a low difficulty or several line of sight tricks with the AI. The story continues with little change.
