- Buffy the Vampire Slayer combats this trope by subverting Slashers Prefer Blondes. In this case, the one that fights off the killer is the peppy blonde cheerleader - who's sexually active (from the second season onwards at least). The Final Girl character type would be best filled by Buffy's nerdy best friend Willow, at least early on. Amusingly enough, Sarah Michelle Gellar had played slasher victims in I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream2.
Square Peg Round Trope-at no point in the show is either Buffy or Willow the only one of the main characters left alive, which is one of the defining traits of the trope. Buffy is more properly characterized as a female Superhero.
I'm a Troper!!!So I've noticed how sometimes y'all change the trope names. Kinda like "Trope. aka tropey trope". Well, now that I know that I think it would be a good Idea to change this too "Survivor Girl". "Final Girl" seems a bit vague to me. "Survivor Girl" automatically points out that it's a girl who survives something, (ie, chainsaw monster, creepy doll, etc.) and is not too long. Just sayin'.
.*SCREAMS ABOUT MOTHER 3*After Sundown, a fan-made modification of the World of Darkness RPG contains this thought: “Interesting fact: The Final Girl trope emerged shortly after young women became a major component of horror movie attendees.”
Does this trope also apply to other kinds of horror movies?
