A lot of examples on this page seem to just be Cartwright Curse. Should those be culled or is Cartwright Curse a legitimate subtrope of this... despite not being mentioned in the description, along with no mention of love interests dying?

I think the Cartwright Curse examples should be removed - this is about love interests being unstable, nonexistent, or having other issues that preclude a functioning relationship (something more than "it just didn't work out"), not about them being killed off. It's two different tropes that are used to serve the same purpose (the hero has lots of relationships, but no permanent one).
