- Usually, this happens when ill-advised fans get blinded by a false sense of entitlement and try to brute-force an installment at the perception their beloved franchise is stuck adrift and will never get out of its hole, so they rather carelessly go with the delusion that they are Running the Asylum. Sure, it is very noble to try to launch kick-starters, provide fan support, and petition for new developments, but it is just plain twisted to try to seize control for yourself, because to do that is like a stranger handling a parent's baby without consent. It is not your baby and you can't dress it up like it is yours or steal it from its parent.
I think we should get rid of this paragraph. Its only purpose is hating on fans who make fan sequels. It's fine if you don't like fan sequels, but I don't think the trope page should push that opinion (clearly a lot of people enjoy fan sequels and would disagree that the people who make them are "blinded by a false sense of entitlement" and "twisted"). We've already mentioned that fan sequels can get Screwed by the Lawyers, and that should be enough. Alternatively, we could rewrite the article to be more neutral and add a couple of arguments from the other side.
Edited by MathsAngelicVersion Hide / Show RepliesAh, you already removed it. Why did you start by saying "we should remove it" instead of "I remived it because..."?
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300They also asked permisson on the Removing complaining, bashing, and other negativity thread, and it was agreed to cut there.
@MyFinalEdits: I'm sorry. I forgot to update my original post to include the information chasemaddigan posted.
I chose to zap it instead of rewriting it because the page doesn't really need a paragraph rehashing the usual arguments for and against fan works.
Edited by MathsAngelicVersionSomeone needs to alphabetize the game list. There ought to be an automated tool to do that to example lists, if there isn't already, but if there is I don't know how to use it.
There isn't such a tool. There may be one in the future, though.
