How about, instead of "transcontinental united states" "Manifested Destiny", since "manifest" destiny was the idea to spread across the continent, "manifested" would show it had been done.

No, the names are supposed to descriptive first; any references or wittiness is completely secondary. Besides, manifest destiny has more meanings that what you're talking about
. I'll include a reference to it in the description of the subtrope, though.
