I agree, most of the entries I've seen for it were always on YMMV pages, and while some of them CAN be chalked up to Draco in Leather Pants, there are plenty of villains, like Frollo, Gaston, Android 17, Zarbon, Vegeta at first, and even--to show this as a YMMV and not necessarily an intended reaction--Perfect Cell and Broly. Personally, I also think Jenner and Cat R. Waul could be considered this among Furries, and I don't think they (always) get the Draco in Leather Pants treatment (not to mention, that trope isn't even about attractive villains so much as the audience treating villains as sympathetic or likeable when they not only were meant to be evil, but clearly demonstrated to BE villainous). Back when it WAS a trope, I had actually considered adding I.M. Meen as an example—even if he's SUPPOSED to be a Gonk, I've heard some people find him sorta-attractive for his over-the-top personality.
I suppose a good name for the YMMV-based Evil Is Sexy trope could be "Audience-Lust Inspiring Villain" or "Lust to Hate" (a pun on Love to Hate) or "Unintentionally Sexy" (the latter could also be a Fanservice-based counterpart to Ugly Cute or a YMMV variant of Kavorka Man for characters who are SUPPOSED to be unattractive, but the audience ends up finding them attractive anyways).
Edited by GrumpyOldYouth Your Resident Grumpy Old YoungsterThe TRS decided that "fans find the villain hot" isn't notable since in many works all the characters are meant to be at least somewhat attractive. Anyway, this isn't where such things are to be discussed; you could ask for more specifics at TRS or attempt a rebrand in TLP, but the decision for this page has already been made.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessPer TRS, Evil Is Sexy was split between Sexy Villains, Chaste Heroes (a non-YMMV trope) and These Tropes Are Evil and Sexy (an index).
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. This isn't a YMMV trope. Portraying evil things and people as more sexed up is something that's done deliberately and consistently in works. YMMV would be if this trope were about people personally finding evil characters hot, which it isn't.
Edited by NOYBWhy'd it go to the top and not the bottom? Wish I could delete double post.
Edited by NOYBLust indeed???? Oh! Come on. I think we can do more then a bit better then Fullmetal Alchemist’s Lust, for the page image.
Hide / Show RepliesI get the feeling that editor was resisting the urge to put the word "fap" in the caption.* But you're right.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOh! I did read it as sexy. That misspelling can go.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMaybe she◊ can be used as a page image, while it's never directly stated if she's evil or not does she try to kidnap a boy, make the same boy fight with his first-ever best friend over who will have her while enjoing it, she dislikes it when he gets friends but that's becauce she wants to keep him to herself and she doesn't really say why and doesn't really seem to love him either. She's from Kire.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. Hide / Show RepliesAt least in the comic section I mean.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.... while I wholeheartedly want to agree with you and get rid of that... this is still YMMV and there is obviously enough of a fandom that believes it.
Sigh.

In between Not Even Human and Not Quite HumanIs it possible to have this trope come about by accident? Like, creating a potential Draco in Leather Pants a la Do Not Do This Cool Thing?
Should the YMMV version of Evil Is Sexy be reassigned to a different YMMV trope? While villains being sexy can be invoked by the creators as an Intended Audience Reaction, sometimes evil characters are still found to be hot even when that wasn't the intention of the author. If it's not the author's intention, it is an audience reaction, therefore villains being seen as hot when it's not authorial intent can be seen as a YMMV trope.
