Okay. I posted the same thing on "Genius Cripple" but I'll post it here too because it's something that important to me.

>>Is there a different way to name this? Speaking as someone who is disabled himself, I don't really appreciate the term 'cripple.' I notice that there aren't any articles with 'faggot' or 'nigger' in the title. Why is that? because it's in poor taste. I joined just to ask this question because besides this specific issue, I've really enjoyed the many hours I've spent lurking here. Just to be clear, I'm not trying to flame or start a shit-storm. But the title alone is a little fucking disrespectful.

I came here to request the very same thing! The world "cripple" is super derogatory and demeaning toward us disabled people. Even something like "Disabled Villain" or something else would be better. The fact that abled people have no problem referring to disabled folks using that word, even on the Discussion page, gives me a super bad taste in my mouth. We're not cripples, we're disabled.

Well, he's not exactly a cripple (read, he's an expert martial artist), is he? So, no.

He's not really evil either.

What about Amon from The Legend of Korra, who (according to himself) was scarred even worse than Zuko and has to wear a White Mask of Doom to cover it up? (We've got a couple other burn victims listed.)

Or would it not count because he's still able-bodied in other ways?

Sorry I was rude in one of my other replies to you. I don't think he would count because of what you noted- let me check the page for other burn victims who are listed, as depending on the circumstances, they might not be good examples.

Does this trope apply to characters who aren't necessarily outright evil, but certainly fit Type IV or V Anti-Hero?

So, to be an evil cripple, to what extent does one have to be disabled? I'm assuming that minor disabilities like a lisp or missing an eye don't count.

Yeah, I'd say a minor thing like what you said wouldn't qualify. Most of the time it's someone in a wheelchair...but it doesn't have to be. If it's the lisp, it could be that said lisping is grounds for a Freudian Excuse as to why they became evil; if it's the missing eye, possibly, Eyepatch of Power.
