Seconding this. I've also seen this exact example in a few pieces of media.
We could also do "There Is No Queen of England," which is objectively one of the funniest versions of this trope (that I've seen so far!).
Actually let's go with that! Megamind is one of my favourite movies, it needs more love!
1,000 years from now there will be no guys and no girls, just wankers.I'd suggest to replace "Eskimo" with "Inuit". "Eskimo" is an old slur that shouldn't be used anymore.
Edited by medoli900 Hide / Show RepliesSeconded. I didn’t know this was a slur until I read this thread: https://mobile.twitter.com/i/moments/984511617290383361?lang=en . The trope name should probably be replaced with another phrase that works better with the trope, like the “Turkey isn’t real” thing in the site quote.
Please note that "Inuit" is not a synonym for "Eskimo." The word "Eskimo" refers to the Inuit people, the Yupik people and some more. If we change the name, then let's change it completely, instead of spreading an offensive misconception about word meaning.
@Michael Katsuro That's fair. Maybe the name of the page can be changed so that the trope namer doesn't have to do with race or ethnicity at all —- in the movie "Coco," Miguel thinks that vitamins aren't real. Maybe we could change the trope name to Vitamins Aren't Real, or something like that.
Any update on this? Maybe "Narwhals Don't Exist" after that famous blog post
Seconded (or fifthed?), there're plenty of other misconceptions that work well with the trope name that don't involve marginalized folks.
usually lurking :eyes:Turkey Doesn't Exist sounds good to me as well. The name of this trope needs to be changed.
Thanks fer tunin' in, folks! We'll see ya next time, an' make it a GREAT day!Previous Trope Repair Shop thread: Ambiguous Name, started by CaveCat on Dec 29th 2014 at 7:40:21 PM

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhy are there Real Life examples in this trope? Shouldn't they all go in Aluminum Christmas Trees?
Hide / Show RepliesAluminum Christmas Trees is when people assume that something they see in a show is made up, when in fact, it does exist in Real Life.

I've come up with a non-offensive name for this trope based on a common Real Life example - "Reindeer Aren't Real". Whatcha think guys?
