Have you ever wondered if the preponderance of Crapsack Worlds in recent fiction is an attempt by writers to protect the masses from succumbing to escapism addiction? I mean, in a world where people kill themselves because they can't live on Pandora, maybe we need to be shown this is not the worst of all possible worlds...
