Does Endless/Long Winter of Changeling The Dreaming belong here? It has nothing to do with winter per se, being death of wonder, not a change of climate, though balefires of glamour would indeed go out, thus making the world colder.

If it's not winter, I would not count it. Lost And Found might have a better trope, though.

Technically according to the original meaning of the term Winter is the Wet Season and in the north is likely to be all year round(aside from the Arctic Desert since it's obviously a desert).

Does Helliconia count as an example? I mean, sure, it has long winters, but they're caused naturally by the planet's orbit. Even though the definition says it's supposed to be artificial, I think any example where the long winter causes major conflict in the story should be fine. Tropes Are Flexible.
