After every natural disaster, there is an inevitable shot of something belonging to a child - a tricycle, a doll, a Doraemon toy. Perhaps the most poignant images were from the school which lost 80% of its students - a photo of a yearbook page outside the school and another of children's bags still in their cubbyholes.

drop the dead donkey - name of Damien's teddy is "Dimbles" after BBC journo Richard Dimbleby.
