Commented out the following Zero Context Examples and copied them here. Please don't add them back unless you also add context to show how they fit this trope.
Anime and Manga
- Evil and (arguably) Omega from Tekkaman Blade.
Films — Live-Action
- The 1986 remake of The Fly has what is probably one of the saddest, pathetic examples on this list.
Literature
- Varnus In Dark Apostle.
- In Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files novel Fool Moon, MacFinn.
- Anhwyvar in The Ragwitch.
Video Games
- Happens in Ragnarok DS with the main character's father, aka, the Dark Knight.
- Throughout the Dead Rising series, this is done many times with various psychopaths.

I stole part of the name of this trope for the title of a fanfic. Hope nobody minds!
Do we have a trope for when someone living under a false identity decides to defiantly admit to their true one in their final moments? Thought it might be this one, but this is only loosely related.
