Starcraft II Vikings in the campaign can be shoved into the huge Transport Ship in walker mode. That becomes extremely valuable in the rip-field mission, because when the transporter dies, it jettisons all the gear inside instead of letting everything die.
Load a bunch of them in walker mode, dump them all off before the transporter explodes, they can murder the rip-field generators and defend themselves better than the costly Battlecruisers, lift half of them into flight mode for a comprehensive defense.
