If it ends up being confirmed somehow that this character doesn't attract doom, but that impending doom instead attracts him, what would he count as? Inverted Trope?

("Isn't this guy a magnet for trouble?" "Yes, but here is the thing: magnets attract each other, and the most easily moved magnet ends up being the one heading for the other. A single person like him is more easily moved towards catastrophes than the catastrophes he attracts would be moved towards him.")

I think the page image is Not An Example; the trope concerns characters who bring misfortune onto others, while the page image shows someone bringing misfortune onto himself.

I believe a Doom Magnet can do both, bringing misfortune on himself and on others.
