Steam Achievements in general often fall into this category as they frequently don't stack. For example, if there is an achievement for achieving "Rank A" and another for achieving "Rank B"...and you complete with Rank A...you only get the first one. You have to play again and do slightly worse in order to get Rank B and thus the second achievement.
