"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'm thinking that a Discontinuity Nod is not just a Take That! but also a Pretender Diss.
A good Star Wars example from the book: Fate of the Jedi: Vortex.
Luke's old girlfriend tells him that the Jedi are corrupt because they believed that there were no good or evil sides of the force, and then Luke says in these exact words: "That was never part of Jedi canon" and that that kind of thinking was from Sith influence (this is part of Retconing a character named Vergere as being evil).
The D&D example isn't correct. Earlier editions allowed dragons to breath fire (or whatever) 3 times a day, not 1.
