One Foot in the Grave is a novel about a half-vampire. I read it long ago and so do not remember it confidently enough to make an entry. What I do remember:

Vampirism is caused by a combination of two infections. A vampire feeds on the protagonist in a way intended to avoid infecting him, but a blunder results in his getting one of the infections. He thus gets some of the symptoms (e.g. lack of a mirror image) and not others. This is unprecedented, and he becomes valuable to the inhuman world (I forget how).

It's a shame most examples of this trope have the father be the vampire. I think it would be pretty neat having an expectant vampire mom kicking ass for two. Oh the many possibilities...
