I'm not actually familiar with the poem, but this entry is broken on several levels. First person, Word Cruft ("amazed no one has mentioned"), a needlessly aggressive parenthetical comment at the end that does nothing for the trope, and that it's pretty much a Zero Context Example.
Before putting it back, please fix those problems.
