I always assumed the reason for this was just a "lost in translation" thing; in the native language of the furry the word for whatever they are can only be translated to "human"; and since the author is writing everything in english the furries call themselves human. It is a little bit like how in an alien world, you are the alien; except in reverse. Or perhaps kinda like how the most "humane" thing to do often isn't what most humans would do.

Nah, Original Klingon is a particular form of cultural posturing, not a joke about biological nature. I strongly desire to delete this but I always feel weird about deleting others' edits, and I'm not sure how best to alter it to be correct otherwise.
