After reading both pages I would have to agree. While both these tropes could have characters displaying the exact same behaviors and traits there is a difference in their function in a story.
I agree that there's a difference, but the definition here is lost in all the convoluted paragraphs.
The statement of the definition has to be pieced together out of the second half of the first sentence of the first paragraph, the second-to-last sentence of the first paragraph, and the second sentence of the second paragraph.
Everything in between those is about a lovingly detailed hypothetical plot. Nicely written, but irrelevant.
Later: I just cut all the stuff about the hypothetical plot. Better?
Edited by Madrugada ...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I guess so. Any ideas for a better picture? After reading that Just A Face And A Caption guide, I'm drawing a bit of a blank for ideas here.
We probably ought to leave this pictureless and make a thread for it in the Image Pickin forum. Those folks are pretty good at finding images that work. (if I do say so myself)
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Can we at least try to find a better name for this trope? As it is, the name makes it seem more like a Self-Demonstrating Article on how not to write a page example.
Edited by Komodin Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.Komodin's awfully quick to go cutlisting with very little justification.

re:Cut
Page cut before but there doesn't seem to be a consistent reason. The page is nothing like Anti-Role Model which is basically the inverse of a role model ("Don't be like this smoker, he's a jerk"). This page is a type of foil who exists to help make one character look good by showing what the evil alternative character interpretation of him would really look like.
It also doesn't make sense saying something could fit on Foil. Foil is huge! Foil has dozens of subtropes that act as foils in many ways. My only question is if maybe there is a particular foil that this matches up to and there doesn't seem to be one.
