Most of the time when I see the bad news/death notification, something more specific happens: the bearer of the news and the recipient EXCHANGE NO WORDS and merely look at each other. Sometimes, as in Big Fish, the recipient will simply drop to the ground weeping. If there is another article for scenes like this where no words are exchanged, I don't know, but in any case the two articles should be linked. I just saw this happen again in the first episode of Fargo the TV series and thought, this ought to be a trope.
