Wouldn't Pirate of the Caribean's second and third movie count? When Barbossa returns from the dead, Will and Elisabeth ask Tia why she can't just get Jack back and she answers: "Because Barbossa - was simply dead", implying Jack's state of being is super-dead.
"Relying on it after you have already pulled it for the same character tells you that maybe you're lacking in imagination to come up with good characters." This seems rather abnormal for a trope description isn't it? Usually the trope descriptions describe what it is but don't tend to criticize its use. Also the use of the second person to refer to an author seems outside the usual tone for this site.
