I don't think this should be cut. It's a valid trope, though perhaps something of a Dead Horse Trope now. It could use a little re-writing, perhaps, and I don't quite remember seeing it go through YKTTW, but I have seen quite a few "tropes" not nearly so worthy as this posted on this wiki. It's like Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree; it just needs a little love.
Um, some more examples might be Una from The Faerie Queene, Alisande from A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthurs Court (check that one, haven't read the book in a while), and Yvonne from PG Wodehouse's "Sir Agravaine."
Edited by Tannhaeuser Hide / Show RepliesThat's because it didn't go through YKTTW, sorry about that. And it is pretty much a Dead Horse but applicable to the Knight Errant entry.
I'm not sure ladies like Lynette who are seeking a champion for a specific cause count as Damsels Errant since their journey is sort of a one off thing. Sir Boss's 'Sandy' may count though.
The Playing With entry seems to only take the villainous variant into account. A Damsel Errant could be a Mole or a Big Bad Friend, but is just as likely to be an innocent bystander, a female Rival, a Mission Control, or even a full-fledged Big Good (for a potential exaggeration).
