Changed the laconic upon discussion in the Laconic Description Improvement Thread. The old laconic was flat-out inaccurate (it didn't refer to the fact that this is a Magical Girl subgenre, for one), and was probably contributing to misuse.

I agree with Twilight being adorable. Though let's be honest, all the ponies are adorable :3

Just a couple Video Game suggestions for tropers who have actual experience editing wikis...

1) Magical Chase (NOT to be confused with Magical Chasers, the doujin fighting game which is included) was a side-scrolling Cute 'Em Up game that was VERY similar to the Cotton series, albeit with a much more forgiving difficulty curve: you're a cute witch on a broom shooting magic spells at various enemies on a continuum of adorable to disturbingly bizarre. IIRC none of its versions were released outside of Japan, but it's pretty dang good. Versions existed for the Tubrografx-16/PC-Engine, Game Boy Colour, and Neo Geo Pocket Colour. Maybe some other ports too that I'm just not aware of.

2) Magical Pop'n. Another Japan-only game, this is a verrry good and verrry cute open-ended platformer for Super Famicom (SNES) with some slight Metroidvania and Zelda elements, where you play as an exceptionally adorable little witch girl named Princess.

3) Little Magic. AGAIN Japan-only (American localization teams in the 80s and 90s did NOT like cute and girly stuff), this is a top-down puzzle-adventure game in the vein of Adventures of Lolo (you shove blocks around, solve puzzles, overcome hazards, etc to unlock an exit door that brings you to the next room, ad infinitum), released for Super Famicom and Game Boy. You play as a young witch girl named May.

4) Red Earth. Japan-only Capcom fighting arcade game that didn't even get home console ports at all! YEAH, A 90s CAPCOM FIGHTING GAME WITH NO CONSOLE PORTS. One of the four playable characters is Tessa, who is very much a cute witch. She also makes an appearance in Pocket Fighter, where the super-deformed style makes her even cuter.

5) The Krion Conquest. This is a pretty blatant Mega Man clone on the NES/Famicom, but... you know... not as good as Mega Man. And you can shoot up. You're a cute witch who shoots little spells from her broomstick.

Cute witches were a pretty big deal in Japan in the 80s/90s, apparently. Not quite on "mecha", "ninja", "mutant", "cyborg" or "mutant cyborg ninja" levels, but pretty high up there.

6) The main character from Witch's Wish for the Nintendo DS. Not to be confused with A Witch's Tale, for the same system, which is already included in the article.

There's probably more retro-videogame cute witches out there. AND I WILL FIND THEM.

A lot of Zero context was found on this page. Zero Context Example entries are not allowed on wiki pages. All such entries have been commented out. Add context to the entries before uncommenting them please.

Make sure that if you comment out several items for supposedly being a Zero Context Example that you don't comment out examples that actually have some context. I've gone and fixed a lot of the damage you've caused, but kept the ones that truly were Zero Context Examples commented out.

Most of those examples you uncomented may as well have been zero context examples. Yea they have context, but it's all peripheral information, don't explain how the character's fits trope and are just as useless to readers unfamiliar with the work as "[character] from [work]". Please remember an example must explain how a trope is used before anything else.

Then do tell, how exactly do you go about giving context to a trope about a character's physical description? Do you want us to go and say exactly what is cute about them? If we did that, I can guarantee that it would be a very dry read. Really, the trope is just too vague to fit the normal standards for context. It either needs clarification, a rewrite, or to be cut.

The examples currently on the page are already varied and not dry. Now if there's an issue with the clarity of this trope please use it to the TRS thread.

It is seriously ironic that Hermione Granger was commented out as being zero-context, yet referenced in the image caption. Couldn't anyone find some context or reason to have her? Is "Cute Witch" that hopelessly ill-defined?

I think this is more on the line of females than males, but I guess there are tropes where the term "rare male/female" examples are listed. Hmm...

LOL. I love Matilda. XD She's more of a psychic, but she should probably still be listed because she's definitely cute. :)

So do Cute Witches normally count as Chaotic too or is that just Marisa? XD Some of these examples seem to be a bit on the mischievous side still even if their good, or maybe just tsundere. :p

Anyways, there's two mild examples of this I think should be added.

A. Anime & Manga

1. Pokemon

There's minor yet somewhat significant example of this when a witch with a murkrow during the Johto arc turns Ash into a Pikachu. No really. XD (I haven't watched much of that though but I looked up what it was about. :p)

B. Video Games

1. Yume Nikki (.flow)

Sabitsuki can also be a witch from a witch effect. (I'm more used to her like that then Madotsuki actually since most people use Mado's bike instead and the witch effect is used more for the witch event. ^^;)

Also, if it's not listed there already, Tomba actually had one and I think she was literally called Cute Witch. XD

All right, should Sephrenia even be here? Sure, she's good-looking and she's a magic-user, but I always pictured her as being looking in her forties at least. (The fact that the knights refer to her as "mother" probably influenced that, but still...)

Moved these examples to Hot Witch:

* Jennifer (Veronica Lake) in I Married a Witch.
* Gillian (Kim Novak) in Bell, Book and Candle.
Because they clearly fit better under that trope.
