Regarding the Trainspotting example — there's nothing in the book or the film that indicates the person Begbie picks up is transgendered. The man is a transvestite. It also might not even count as an example, since his intention wasn't to confirm gender — it was foreplay.

Just a note that in the Drowtales example he was pretty clearly trying to grab a certain appendage and likely twist, but didn't find anything to grab, so that's why I edited it.
