Should I put Ef-a tale of memories as one? It had three love stories playing altogether at once. The same goes for Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain and Requiem For a Dream. In the fountain, we have four stories about four people addicted to drugs: three on heroin; one on diet pills. Their addictions got them to a sad ending. As for the Fountain, it has three stories, each one about one man trying to save his love from death, in a different timeline. The first one takes place in the 1500s where the conquistador sailed to New Spain to find the tree of life to save Spain from the Spanish Inquisition; the second story takes place in the 2000s where the doctor was working on a remedy to cure his wife’s tumor; and the third one takes place in the 2500s in space where the spaceman sailed to Xibalba to save the tree, the source of his immortality. In the end, they all accept death as a part of life.
