I'm sure we can come up with a better example picture. The current one isn't particularly creepy or cool (except maybe in context). Surely we can find one that's a better example of the former at least, if not both.

Broken Saints? Did you miss the name? The entire thing is a religious story. It's not a random example of Creepy Cool Crosses. In the scene listed in the trope (don't ask me why that one is included and all the other crosses aren't), the crosses represent the Muslim main character's country being used and abused by Christian countries and their soldiers. It's an important part of the story. Really not matching up with the description of the trope.
So if one of the many God of Evil is specifically a god of Cold-Blooded Torture and uses crosses in his religious imagery because it is a horrible way to go as well as a visually horrendous torture... Does it count here?
