I've decided to be a tad optimistic with editing the Fruits Basket example, for there are stories of second seasons being made under different studios than the original. Of course, considering it's been years, it is looking more and more unlikely, but still.

Originally Final Fantasy XII was supposed to have Basch as the main character. Seeing as Basch was not a Bishōnen, they decided to make Vaan the protagonist instead.

Because from where I stand, this seems to be more snide remark about Final Fantasy in general than this trope in specific. Is there some behind-the-scenes context that would make this make sense, and if so, why was it not in the example?
