It seems as though this trope is given a host of 'humorous takes' or 'aversions' or 'subversions,' without the description foreshadowing this. Some of the examples of 'defying' or 'subverting' this trope are slightly loose - at the least, they should usually involve examples where thoughts are sensed and yet they do not follow a sequence. Many of the sections could perhaps do with more positive examples, to illustrate what is being subverted (apparently everywhere) in the first place.
