Per TRS, the definition has been expanded to include any within-franchise cameo.

Just making a note based on an edit I just made: This trope isn't specifically about adaptation vs. original work, it's just about distinct continuities. A character from an adaptation making a cameo in the still-ongoing source material is therefore a regular example, not an inversion.

The same guy as all those other Andrusis. Except that one.
