I just watched it, and if I saw correctly, when they showed the world map, Madagascar appeared to have no trace of the disease.

Though the MEV virus is fictional, its viral components— fruit bat and swine genetic recombination over dropped bits of fruit— are the same as real life Nipah Virus. Contaminated bat saliva and urine on fallen mango bits are eaten by pigs, which are nature's version of a viral dance party. Similarly, the destruction of bat habitat helping to create the virus in the movie is an echo of real life events (such as Marchupo) in which mankind's encroachment of previously wild lands exposes animals and humans to new viruses.
I haven't seen this yet. How does Madagascar fare in this story? Did they manage to shut everything down?
