Not a Common Metre example, but I once heard a story of some carol singers who, singing without music, accidentally started Once in Royal to the tune of Hark the Herald (or vice verse) and only realised when they got to the chorus. At first I couldn't figure out how that worked but once I did I've always got them confused...
