Cut from the YMMV page. This is not how we use They Changed It, Now It Sucks!. That trope is used for talking about people nitpicking about details in an adaptation of a work (or to quote the page itself: "the focus is on over-reaction over minor changes"). Considering how the entry is talking about a Retool here, this isn't minor:
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The near-universal reaction to Dandy Xtreme, the Totally Radical retool, which very nearly killed the title off completely.
- Some have also said this about the rebooted Dandy. Sometimes it feels more like reading some Web Comics. Some boring webcomics. Others have voiced disapproval of the increase in Toilet Humour, such as in the chronically unfunny - and thankfully unrepeated - The Last Windbender.
- And let's not forget the frankly weird new looks for old favourites Korky the Cat, Bananaman and Desperate Dan.
- Uh oh. ABC readership figures reveal a 48% drop from July-December 2010 to January-June 2011. The readers are voting with their money it seems, yelling a loud chorus of They Changed It, Now It Sucks!. That could prove to be the Franchise Killer.
Would someone please fix the country headings so that they don't overlap the box on the right? I tried to fix it but I'm not sure how.
Cut from values dissonance:
- Similarly, there was the '50s Cap who attacked anything with the faintest whiff of Communism, but that was retconned so that it was a test subject for the Super-Soldier Formula who became a bit unbalanced and ended up thinking he was Steve Rogers.
I've read those stories (they are in Atlas era Marvel Masterworks). Like other superheroes, Cap fights villains because they commit crimes. It's true that Communism is used to explain why the villains commit crimes, but Cap doesn't do anything that he wouldn't still be doing even if the villains weren't Communists and committed the crimes for other reasons.
