The laconic description of the trope is "Breaking big chains of hits with a special move". With this said, I'm not sure if the following entries are examples of the trope:
- In the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja series of games, blocking reduces damage by half and avoids knockdown, but blocking with precisely the right timing results in a Substitution Jutsu with your character teleporting behind the attacker, although it also depletes the character's Chakra.
- The Street Fighter III games have the Parry system. Rather than block an opponent's attack, the player presses the joystick forward at exactly the moment or slightly before the hit connects. Doing it successfully nullifies damage (saving them chip damage) and immediately puts them in a position to strike back, escape, or parry the next hit if necessary (as parrying does not stop the opponent). One of the most famous Street Fighter matches of all time was done by a master of this technique.
What do you think?

I want to write a Laconic version of this, but I'm in a Creative Block. -.- Any ideas?

Whoa, this is a trope now?
I'd used it all the time as a pothole in the forums in lieu of C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER but now it's a trope?
Wow.

Another example brought up for discussion:
I'm not sure that "combo decay" might count as an example of this trope.
