I am just going to say this, until the rename I had NO idea that's what this trope was about. Just going by seeing the name on a works' page I just assumed it meant "a big battle."

This example was disputed. It is here if people want to discuss it, come to a conclusion on its validity as an example of this trope, and remove the thread-mode natter.
- Older Than Print: Happens in original Ragnarok of Norse Mythology, complete with the resurrection of Baldur.
- Debatable, as Balder and Hoder are the only two to be resurrected; everyone else is Killed Off for Real.
Is it typical for this trope to be invoked through, say, Time Travel? As in, bringing back characters who were Killed Off for Real to the present from a time before they were, well, you know, so they can all fight the Big Bad.
