"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI feel like we should add Aizen from Bleach into the Anime and Manga section since he managed to hide his Face-Heel Turn rather well and after revealing took on a more Superman-like aesthetic (some have even made comparison pictures) from his meek and friendly looking Clark Kent-esque looks as the captain. I didn't add it yet since i wanted to know if others think we should include it or leave it out...
Edited by JonVonBass I am the man who was slain by a ghoul, became a vampire, became a ghoul that killed my human self, became a soul in a sword. Hide / Show RepliesNah. It was just a straight Evil Costume Switch. He wasn't disguised as anyone else when he was a Captain, it wasn't like he was operating evilly without the glasses and people weren't making the connection.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. This is SO truth in television for celebrities. Even ones we see every day. ESPECIALLY ones we see everyday. What we see everyday is their carefully groomed, sartorially resplendent selves... many are almost impossible to recognize when they're loafing around in sweats.
I think I've found another reason why the Trope Namer has such an effective disguise. Because few would ever see them together or even individually much. To most of his town of Metropolis Clark Kent is just a name seen in newspaper articles, while Superman is just often seen at a distance by rubberneckers at disasters. Only those who spend any real time with both should have seen the similarity such as Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen.
Hide / Show RepliesThis is probably worth exploring. In the TV show Lois and Clark it seems at first that why Lois does not get it, is that she is infatuated with Superman and miffed at Clark for having ended her undisputed dominance of the newsroom. Even the early scene where she sees Clark in nothing but a towel does not change her view of him. This means that unlike everyone else, Lois has seen from the very begining Clark with virtually no disguise. If part of Clark's disguise is his baggy clothing, than this part of his disguise has not worked on Lois. I am trying to remember if he is even wearing his glasses in that scene.
Judging from the Real Life entries down below, should this be classified as truth in television?
I love how Trolls overlaps this with the Cinderella Plot, which, truth be told, the original Cinderella story is kind of an example, unintentionally on her part.
