There's a place in Warhammer4000 which I am wondering if it would make a good "Plane of existance" example. Commorragh is a city that's within the Webway, a mass of tunnels that allow quick transport across the galaxy, it's referred to as a city but it's situated in a place of Alien Geometries and the structures are as much spaceship as skyscraper.
