There are cases when other carrion-eaters, not necessarily birds, follow (supposedly) doomed characters. Do they count?
Off the cuff I recall the episode of "Maya the Honey Bee" where characters were followed by burying beetles and a Russian superstition that foxes follow dying people.

I was also going to comment on the recurrence of an animal triad in Old English literature (making this trope as old as the Middle Ages at least) – the hawk, crow and wolf usually if I recall – which appear before or after a large and bloody battle, waiting to collect from the carnage and carrion afterwards.
Do the ice vultures in The Bad Batch S2 E12 "The Outpost" count? If so, I'll add it.
