I wonder about a possible indication. About a character being camp straight involving such characters having effeminate interests but not being affected by characters who fall under the Even the Guys Want Him situation. I know of a couple of cartoons that did that.

Troperr means Troper revolution. I'm here to bring revolution to this Site by expanding trope examples wherever such expansion is needed

Nah, I don't think so.

I read the line about the Lad-ette not being a perfect female equivalent since it's so sexualized. That left me thinking that we need a new trope called Butch Straight. What do you think?

Take it to YKTTW.

What's precedent ever done for us?

Yeah, we definitely need a Distaff Counterpart to this trope. While the assumption that tomboy=lesbian isn't as automatic as sissy=gay, there's enough of it (particularly if it's an adult woman and/or she's really really butch) that it should be a trope. (An example would be Sue and Coach Bieste from Glee, both of whom are butch enough that they have to state outright that they are straight, after rampant speculation both in the fandom and In-Universe that they weren't.)

Why are there more effeminate straight guys in the media than butch straight women in the media? I thought the media was more accepting of tomboys than feminine men.

That's why we don't have a female equivalent here; there isn't as much of an automatic assumption that being tomboyish = being a lesbian, because it's more accepted, as being effeminate = being gay in men. So it isn't as much of The Reveal to find out a tomboyish girl likes boys.

That being said, there's a difference between being the cute "one of the guys" Lad-ette and a more overtly masculine-appearing woman, like one who could be mistaken for a Butch Lesbian. The Lad-ette tends to still be attractive by conventional standards of femininity, even if she doesn't wear make-up or skirts; the "Butch Straight" woman is not. And that is something that our media can't handle in female characters.

Yes, but the mere fact that Camp Straight can exist enough to have its own TV Tropes page versus most incredibly tomboyish women being gay shows that the media is more accepting to have an effeminate straight guy than a butch straight woman.

"Quirky" is a broad term that can encompass a lot of things that have nothing to do with being stereotypically gay. A better term, if we're looking for a new one, would be "Flamboyant Straight" or "Effeminate Straight."

This is apparently mistaking a broad national stereotype for the trope.

Is there such a thing as a Camp Asexual; someone who acts flamboyant but shows no interest whatsoever in anybody of either gender?

This might relate to the above topic (meterosexuals), but I added a line trying to explain something I thought was important- that some characters who are like this are that way because in the past, that's how ladykillers acted. Not sure if I phrased it the best, but that does seem to explain several of the characters listed.

"Today, we call this person a metrosexual: a straight guy who acts gay. "

Huh-wha? I thought it just meant a man who takes an interest in fashion and beauty beyond what would be considered traditionally masculine. Sure this could include Camp behavior, but appears more often without.

Subjectively, there's a fine line between a Troll and someone who lives just to piss you off.

Could someone correct the X Just X about Prince? I can't, because I have no idea how Prince behaved/behaves. Wouldn't even have known the guy existed if not for The Trope Formerly Known as X.
