This is used in "Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital," but for a different reason, which is why I wanted to bring it into discussion first. Basically, in the episode "Butterfingers," a failed baseball player botches a suicide attempt. When he's due for an MRI after surgery, it's revealed that he had either a pacemaker or a metal plate in his head—if he got the MRI, he'd be killed, and his spirit would be lost forever (Mrs. Druse's diagnosis). So, the MRI/CAT would be a trap, but not for the claustrophobia.

Guidance, anyone?
